Itinerary

1

New Orleans

Arrive in New Orleans, where you'll be staying for the next four nights. From museums to restaurants to world-famous festivals, there's no place in the world quite like New Orleans. Explore the boutiques on Magazine Street or follow the sound of live music from Frenchmen Street. When exploring New Orleans make sure you include Cafe du Monde, for their famous beignets and experience live Jazz at Preservation Hall before popping into one of the many bars lining famous Bourbon Street for a drink. You might choose to take a steamboat trip along the Mississippi or sample the city's Creole cuisine; New Orleans is as famous for its food as for its music. No other city in America can boast such intrigue or romance.

5

Lafayette

"135 miles"

Arrive in Lafayette where you'll be staying for the next two nights and let the good times roll! You're in the heart of Cajun country, where the food is plentiful, music and dancing abound and history comes to life.

7

Lake Charles

"75 miles"

The Festival Capital of Louisiana, Lake Charles hosts over 75 festivals each year, including the biggest Mardi Gras parade outside New Orleans. Great shopping, casinos, live music and sandy beaches make this a fabulous holiday destination.

8

Galveston

"180 miles"

Galveston sits on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico and offers 32 miles of golden beaches. The town is full of restaurants, shops and live entertainment. We recommend you visit Galveston's historic district, with some of the best preserved Victorian architecture in the country and take a stroll along Seawall Boulevard to watch the amazing sunset.

10

Houston

"50 miles"

As the fourth largest city in America, Houston has emerged as one of the great cities of the 21st century. In the evening head for Bayou Place - downtown's destination for great food and entertainment. During the day, we recommend a  stroll around Houston's Aboretum and Nature Centre, go wine tasting at Haak Vineyards or spend a day at NASA'S Space Centre.

12

Austin

"291 miles"

Austin is a bustling university town with great music connections and is host to the South by Southwest Festival each March. We recommend you visit the historic district and spend some time at Congress Avenue and East Sixth Street, the centre of downtown life.
